Four athletes selected to carry the Maldivian national flag at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games were recognised at a Flag Bearers Awarding Ceremony.

With the Asian Games set to begin later this month, Mariyam Eshal Misbah and Moosa Munsif Ahmed have been named the Maldives’ flag bearers for its Opening Ceremony. The Games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026.

The ceremony also recognised Amna Thazkiyah Mirsaad and Looth Mohamed Hussain, who will serve as the Maldives’ flag bearers at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The event is scheduled to be held in Dakar, Senegal, from 31 October to 13 November 2026.

Their selection places the four athletes at the forefront of the Maldivian contingents at two major international sporting events. Carrying the national flag is both a distinction for the athletes and a responsibility to represent the Maldives on the international stage.
