Aishath Sajina Represents Maldives at International Olympic Academy’s 65th Youth Session
National record-holding swimmer Aishath Sajina represented the Maldives at the 65th International Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors, held from 7–19 June 2025 in Athens and Olympia, Greece.
Sajina joined young delegates from across the world for the two-week programme organized by the International Olympic Academy (IOA). The session aims to develop future sports leaders by engaging participants in discussions, lectures, and cultural exchanges centered on Olympic values.
During the session, Sajina delivered a presentation highlighting her journey as an athlete — from her early development in Maldivian swimming to her appearance in the women’s 100m breaststroke at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. She also shared insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by athletes from small island nations.
This year’s programme focused on two key themes: “The Future of Sport” and “Olympic Movement and AI: Opportunities and Challenges.” Delegates explored how technological advancements can support athlete development, enhance sports governance, and protect the values of Olympism.
