Maldives Olympic Committee Participates in OCA Gender Equity Seminar in Brunei Darussalam

The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) was represented at the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Gender Equity Seminar held in Brunei Darussalam from 14 to 15 April 2025. Secretary General of MOC, Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, and Chairperson of the MOC Gender Equity Commission, Ms. Fazna Jaleel, participated in the two-day seminar, which brought together delegates from across the region to deliberate on strengthening gender equity in sport.

Organised by the OCA, the seminar aimed to advance gender equity initiatives across Asian National Olympic Committees (NOCs), with a particular focus on promoting inclusive leadership and decision-making roles for women in sports governance.

Key areas of discussion included the development of gender-responsive policies, inclusive athlete pathways, and the integration of equity-focused practices within national sports structures. The sessions also explored strategies to empower women in sport, from grassroots participation to high-performance and administrative leadership.

The Maldives Olympic Committee remains committed to the promotion of gender equity and continues to actively engage in regional and global efforts to foster inclusive environments within the sports sector.

The seminar served as a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing national experiences, and identifying practical approaches to embed gender equity in the policies and programmes of Asian NOCs.
