Jumana and Zayan named as the flag-bearers of Team Maldives

National Table Tennis player Fathimath Jumana Nimal and National Badminton Player Hussein Zayan Shaheed Zaki have been named as the flag-bearers of Team Maldives for the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which will be held on July 28 at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. The announcement of the flag bearers took place at a ceremony at the athlete’s village, which was attended by the Honorable Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, President of Commonwealth Games Association - Maldives Mohamed Abdul Sattar and athletes and officials of the 5 sports representing Maldives at the Games. The honour was bestowed to the dual flag bearers by the Honorable Minister Mahloof, who congratulated the flag bearers for earning the title. Both Jumana and Zayan serve as outstanding role models, where Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games would make Jumana’s 4th time participating at the Commonwealth Games, while it will be the 3rd time for Zayan. Around 30,000 spectators at the stadium, and a television audience of millions around on world, are expected to tune in live to watch opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games which will kick start this Thursday night at 11:00 PM MVT.
