Maldives Conclude Asian Games Participation with Men’s 4 × 400-Metre Relay
The Maldives concluded its participation at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026 with the national men’s 4 × 400-metre relay team taking to the track in the country’s final event of the Games.
Competing in Heat 1 at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in Nagoya, the Maldivian quartet completed the race in 3 minutes 18.54 seconds. Five national teams contested the heat.
The relay team comprised Hassan Saaid, Adam Riffath, Hussain Zeeq Suad and Mohamed Zuiz Saud, bringing together four athletes who had also represented the Maldives across the individual sprint events during the Games.
The race concluded an athletics schedule that included the men’s 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, 4 × 100-metre relay and 4 × 400-metre relay. Notable performances included Zuiz recording a personal best of 22.70 seconds in the 200 metres and the men’s 4 × 100-metre team clocking 41.76 seconds—the fastest time achieved by a Maldivian team in the event since 2019.
With the completion of the 4 × 400-metre relay, both the national athletics team’s competition and the Maldives’ overall participation at Aichi–Nagoya 2026 came to an end.
