Maldives Women Conclude Beach Volleyball Competition with Straight-Set Victory
The Maldives women’s beach volleyball team concluded its competition at the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026 on a winning note, securing a straight-set victory over Mongolia in its final group-stage match.
Aminath Areesha and Fathimath Anaal represented the Maldives against Mongolia’s Solmon Batjargal and Khandsuren Gantogtokh at the Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court in Nagoya.
The Maldivian pair established control in the opening set and converted their advantage into a 21–14 win. Areesha and Anaal maintained their composure through a more closely contested second set, eventually closing it out 21–15 to complete the match in straight sets.
The result gave the Maldives women’s pair its first victory of the competition and brought its Asian Games participation to a positive conclusion. The men’s team also completed its group-stage fixtures but was unable to register a victory.
With the conclusion of the men’s and women’s competitions, the Maldives beach volleyball team has completed its participation at Aichi–Nagoya 2026. The team is scheduled to return to the Maldives on 5 October.
