President of the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar, and Secretary General, Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, attended the Executive Committee Meeting of the South Asian Olympic Council (SAOC), held in Islamabad, Pakistan, from 23 to 24 August 2026.

Hosted by the National Olympic Committee of Pakistan, the meeting brought together representatives of the South Asian Olympic Council to discuss matters relating to regional sports cooperation and the preparations for upcoming major sporting events in South Asia.

A key focus of the meeting was to review the progress made in implementing the decisions adopted at the previous SAOC Executive Committee Meeting, held in Lahore on 25 February 2026. The Executive Committee also received updates and discussed the ongoing preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, scheduled to be held in 2027.

Discussions covered key organisational and operational matters relating to the Games, with members exchanging views on the preparations required to ensure the successful delivery of the regional multi-sport event.

As part of the official programme, the delegates also visited the proposed competition venues for the 14th South Asian Games. The visits provided an opportunity to observe the facilities being considered for the Games and to gain a better understanding of the preparations currently underway.

The participation of the MOC President and Secretary General reflects the Maldives Olympic Committee’s continued engagement in regional sports development and its commitment to strengthening cooperation among the National Olympic Committees of South Asia.
