Maldives’ athletes, coaches, and officials competing at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, were visited by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness, Abdulla Rafiu.

The meeting took place during a special gathering at the Athletes’ Village, where the Minister engaged with members of the Maldivian contingent and acknowledged their efforts at the Games.

In his remarks, Minister Rafiu highlighted that international competitions offer more than just results, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and exposure to different environments as part of an athlete’s development.

He encouraged the team to remain focused and continue giving their best while representing the Maldives, and commended the athletes for their dedication and performances so far.

Maldives is competing in four sports at the Games: Beach Athletics, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, and Open Water Swimming.

The gathering was attended by Maldives Olympic Committee President Mohamed Abdul Sattar, Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal, Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, and Chef de Mission Ahmed Aushan, along with other officials.

MOC President Mohamed Abdul Sattar also addressed the athletes, offering encouragement and acknowledging the team’s performances to date.
