Press Conference regarding Hangzhou Asian Games “Fun Run”
Malé City, Maldives: Representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) and Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) held a press briefing today, ahead of Asian Games Fun Run, scheduled to take place in Hulhumalé on 04 February 2023.
President Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) Mr Mohamed Abdul Sattar welcomed the delegation from OCA and HAGOC and thanked them for their continued support to the MOC, the NSAs and athletes and teams preparing for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
He also announced that the Maldives is proposing to compete in 11 different sports at the
Hangzhou Games with more than 200 athletes expected to take part at the Games.
The delegation of OCA consisted of Mr. Jeans – Jian Zhou – Director of Media and Broadcast Department. The delegation from HAGOC included Ms. Song Jianbo - Director of Co-host cities Department, Ms. Xu Na, Deputy Chief of Co-host Cities Department and Ms. Julie Zhu – Staff of International Relations Department.
Addressing the media Ms Song Jianbo assured that preparations for the Games are going in full swing with most work now completed to high standards, the construction of the venues completed, preparations for the competition events essentially completed, the majority of staff required for the Games appointed, Games services essentially setup and ready for operations. She emphasised that the Asian Games Fun Run being held here will help spread joy and hope across Asia, enhance friendship among people in countries and regions around Asia, and increase public interest in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
“It gives us great pleasure to say that the Fun Run, the Asian Games Young Reporter programme, the Asian Games Children’s Art Competition, as well as other events, are being, or have been, held in partnership with the OCA. Excitement for the upcoming Asian Games continues to build in China and Asia as a whole”, she said.
The Asian Games “Fun Run” 2023 will be held at Synthetic Track, Hulhumalé, Maldives on Saturday, 04 February 2023 at 0600hrs. Around 700 participants from NSA, schools and local Chinese companies and the public are expected to participate in the event.
