Maldives Olympic Committee and MNIS Conduct Sports Nutrition and Psychology Initiative
The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), in collaboration with the Maldives National Institute of Sports (MNIS), successfully conducted a Sports Nutrition and Sports Psychology initiative, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of athletes and sports professionals across the country.
The program was officially inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, who emphasized the importance of holistic athlete development and the growing role of scientific approaches in maximizing performance.
Led by expert trainers Ms. Malaha Abdul Rasheed and Ms. Asiyath Nasooha, the initiative offered a comprehensive learning experience for 38 participants from various sports disciplines. The sessions explored the critical impact of sports nutrition on energy, recovery, and overall health, alongside practical guidance in sports psychology, including mental preparation, focus, motivation, and coping strategies for competition.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions, case studies, and applied exercises, allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application in their respective sports. The program highlighted the importance of integrating nutrition and psychological strategies into daily training routines, providing athletes and coaches with tools to optimize performance and long-term development.
The Maldives Olympic Committee and MNIS expressed their commitment to continuing such capacity-building initiatives, ensuring that athletes and sports professionals across the country have access to scientific, evidence-based support to excel in both national and international arenas.
