The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) actively participated in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Safeguarding Workshop held on December 5, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop brought together representatives from various National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to discuss the critical issue of safeguarding in sports, with a focus on championing athlete safety and developing effective safeguarding frameworks.

Representing the MOC at the event were Mariyam Shaufa, Ibrahim Shifaz, and Fathimath Ziyana, alongside Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, who delivered a presentation on stakeholder engagement in safeguarding athletes. His presentation highlighted the Maldives’ ongoing initiatives, such as enhancing policies and fostering collaboration among sports organizations, coaches, and athletes to prioritize safety in sports.

The event emphasized the importance of a united approach to athlete protection, and the insights gained from the workshop will bolster MOC’s commitment to creating a safer and more supportive environment for athletes nationwide.
