Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq and Mubal Azzam Ibrahim has been selected as the dual flag-bearers of Team Maldives for the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be the first of its kind where all the participating countries will have dual flag bearers at the opening ceremony, as it was urged by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to support its gender equality agenda.
The official announcement comes after President of Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar, handed the flags to both flag bearers at an event held today at Olympic Athletes Village in Tokyo, Japan.
MOC congratulates both athletes and wish all athletes best of luck at the Games which is set to officially begin on Friday, 23 July 2021.
