His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih the President of the republic of Maldives welcomed the IOIG Medallists and the delegation back home in a festive welcome ceremony that took place today at the capital city Malé. The welcome ceremony was attended by numerous individuals and organisations including cabinet ministers, leaders of the sports sectors, representatives of government administrations and hundreds of cheering fans.
Having secured 4 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze medals across four of sports, Team Maldives athletes have had huge success in what has been a remarkable week of sport for the country. There is no doubt that the medals won by our local champions are set to inspire a generation and we are privileged to be supporting them.
