At the ongoing 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, Maldives’ men’s beach volleyball teams competed in their second round of matches today, facing some of Asia’s top-ranked pairs.

Maldives is represented by four beach volleyball teams at the Games, including two men’s pairs: Ahmed Mohamed & Ibrahim Raakin Hassan, and Ismail Sajid & Adam Naseem.

Both teams were up against strong opposition in today’s fixtures. Sajid and Adam Naseem faced a highly competitive Iranian pair, Abdullah Hasan Hakeem and Amir Ali Ghalenovi. While the Iranian team secured the match in straight sets (21–15, 21–10), the Maldivian pair delivered a solid performance across both sets.

In Pool D, Raakin and Ahmed Mohamed competed against Oman’s Hood Rashid Saeed Ali and Ali Al Hashimi. The Omani pair won the match 2–0, though the Maldivian duo showed promising play, particularly in the opening set.

Despite the results, both Maldivian teams demonstrated determination and resilience against higher-ranked opponents, gaining valuable experience at the international level.

All Maldivian beach volleyball teams are scheduled to continue their campaign with further matches tomorrow.
