MOC and ARC Conduct Safeguarding Policy Review Session for National Sports Associations
The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), in collaboration with Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), conducted a two-day Safeguarding Policy Review Session from 23–24 April 2025 at Henveyru Rasmee Boalhage. The session was attended by Executive Committee Members, coaches, and staff from various National Sports Associations (NSAs), and aimed to review and strengthen the draft Safeguarding Policy currently under development.
This initiative forms part of MOC’s broader efforts to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment within the Maldivian sports sector. The session focused on ensuring that the policy aligns with international best practices, particularly those recommended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), while also tailoring it to the local cultural and operational context.
Participants actively engaged in discussions surrounding safeguarding responsibilities, prevention strategies, incident reporting protocols, and capacity-building needs within their associations. The session served as a platform for open dialogue, allowing stakeholders to voice concerns, share experiences, and suggest contextually relevant improvements to the policy.
The valuable input gathered from this session will be used to finalize a robust and comprehensive Safeguarding Policy that reflects the collective commitment of MOC, ARC, and the NSAs to protect the dignity, rights, and well-being of every individual involved in sport—particularly children and vulnerable groups.
This review session marks a critical step toward institutionalizing safeguarding standards and ensuring accountability across the sporting landscape in the Maldives.
