Maldives Olympic Committee Represents at 2026 Asian Games Chef de Mission Meeting
The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) participated in the Chef de Mission Meeting for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, held from 22 to 26 September 2025, marking an important milestone in the Maldives’ preparations for the continental multi-sport event. The meeting was attended by Secretary General Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, accompanied by Games Executive Ms. Mariyam Shaufa.
Jointly convened by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee (AINAGOC), the Chef de Mission Meeting brought together representatives and senior officials from National Olympic Committees across Asia. The meeting served as a critical platform to review and assess the comprehensive operational progress and planning for the Games, which are set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in 2026.
During the five-day programme, extensive discussions and presentations were conducted on key operational components essential for the successful delivery of the Games. These included the readiness and development status of competition venues, athlete villages, training facilities, and transportation networks. Updates were also provided on accommodation standards, accreditation systems, medical services, anti-doping measures, security protocols, and logistical arrangements for participating delegations.
Special focus was placed on the range of services and facilities that will be available to athletes and team officials, ensuring their well-being, comfort, and high-performance conditions throughout the event. The meeting also addressed timelines, operational workflows, and coordination mechanisms between the organising committee and participating nations to guarantee smooth execution during the Games period.
The 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 is anticipated to be one of the largest sporting events in the region, bringing together thousands of athletes from across Asia in celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and excellence in sport.
