The Maldives women’s table tennis team made its first appearance at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in a Group C fixture against South Korea, one of the world’s leading table tennis nations.

Aishath Rafa Nazim, Fathimath Dheema Ali and Mishka Mohamed Ibrahim represented the Maldives in the team event at Sky Hall Toyota. South Korea maintained control throughout the three individual matches and secured a 3–0 victory.

Competing at this level provided the Maldivian players with valuable exposure to the technical standard and intensity of elite international table tennis. Following the match, the players described the experience of facing one of the sport’s strongest teams as an important opportunity for their continued development.

The Maldives will next face Kazakhstan in its remaining Group C fixture at 06:00 hrs Maldives time.

Aishath Rafa Nazim and Fathimath Dheema Ali will also compete in the women’s doubles event, facing an Indonesian pair at 14:30 hrs Maldives time.
