In a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of athletes in sports competitions across the Maldives, the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) and the Ministry of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU outlines the transfer of responsibilities for operation of health emergency care rooms and various health facilities designed to provide essential first aid at sporting venues.

This partnership underscores the commitment of both entities to elevate the standard of health care available to athletes participating in national and international sports competitions within the Maldives. The MoU encompasses a comprehensive framework for the seamless integration of health emergency care services, guaranteeing swift and effective responses in situations requiring immediate medical attention.

The signing ceremony, held at MOC Headquarters, was attended by Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Honorable Abdulla Rafiu alongside the President of the MOC Mohamed Abdul Sattar. Key representatives from both entities were also in attendance, symbolizing a shared commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of athletes on the sporting stage. This collaborative venture is poised to contribute significantly to the success and safety of the national athletes.

During the signing ceremony, Minister Abdulla Rafiu highlighted in his speech that this initiative stands as a pivotal component of the "Hafthaa 14" pledge made by the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The official inauguration of the medical rooms at the sporting facilities is scheduled for January 15, marking today's MoU signing the initial phase of this comprehensive endeavor.
