The closing ceremony for the Sport Administrators Course which commenced earlier this month was held today at H. Rasmee Bolhage ground floor.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Honorable Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan. Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports Community Empowerment also attended the ceremony, along with the Secretary General of MOC, Thamooh Ahmed Saeed and the National Course Directors Mohamed Jaushan Shareef and Hussain Mohamed.
At the speech delivered by the Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, he praised the impressive content of the course which, the Minister believed will foster promising opportunities to the participants in the sports industry. Minister therefore urged the participants to view this opportunity as a beginning that will pave the way towards becoming a more influential person in the sports industry. Minister further admired the fact that, the participants of the course were from different provinces, and for the astounding rate of female participation at the course. Minister also noted that as Sports Counsilors, the course participants can bring imperative changes to their community, if they are deliberate about applying the knowledge gained from the course. In addition to this, Minister called out the participants to take the responsibility of uniting their community, as this is a major aspect of sports.
After the speech delivered by the Chief Guest, the participants were awarded their Diplomas. 18 participants who completed the course were awarded the Sport Administrators Course Diploma certified by the International Olympic Committee and the Maldives Qualification Authority.
This item was followed by a speech given by the Honorable Deputy Minister Abdulla Anees. In his speech, Anees urged the participants to efficiently share the knowledge gained from the course to the members of their respective communities. Referring to Dr. Ibrahim Hassan’s statement, Anees also advised the participants to never give up and move forward, as a career in sports is really promising. Before concluding the speech Anees thanked MOC and IOC for giving the opportunity to conduct the course in collaboration with the Maldives National Institute of Sports. Anees also thanked Ministry of Higher Education, the lecturers of the course and the Ministry of Youth Sports Community and Empowerment for their continuous support in delivering sports related courses.
