MOC Leadership Attends Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow
Maldives Olympic Committee President Mr. Mohamed Abdul Sattar and Secretary General Mr. Thamooh Ahmed Saeed attended the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly held in Glasgow, where leaders from across the Commonwealth gathered to discuss key developments and preparations for upcoming Games cycles.
The Assembly provided a platform for productive discussions on governance, event planning, athlete development, and strategic priorities as nations look ahead to the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026. The MOC leadership engaged in important exchanges aimed at strengthening collaboration and ensuring that the Maldives remains aligned with the evolving direction of the Commonwealth Sport movement.
A major highlight of the meeting was the historic ratification of India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Delegates voted in favour of awarding the Games to Amdavad (Ahmedabad), marking a significant milestone for the Commonwealth sporting community.
