Maldives Olympic Committee Holds Annual General Assembly 2026
The Maldives Olympic Committee convened its Annual General Assembly (AGA) on 25 February 2026 in Malé, bringing together 16 Member Associations and two Athlete Representatives. The Assembly was chaired by the MOC President and attended by Members of the Executive Committee, as well as representatives from the National Sports Council and the Commissioner of Sports’ Office.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Honorable Abdulla Rafiu, attended the Assembly as Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he reaffirmed the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening governance standards, enhancing athlete development pathways, and fostering institutional collaboration within the national sports sector.
A key highlight of the AGA was a special recognition segment acknowledging individuals and teams who played significant roles in the successful delivery of MOC programmes and international engagements in 2025. Chef de Missions of the Games held during 2025 were presented with plaques in recognition of their leadership and service in guiding Team Maldives at international competitions.
Recognition was also extended to media personnel and medical teams who supported MOC events, ensuring professional coverage and athlete welfare throughout the year. Special appreciation was conveyed to individuals who contributed to the successful hosting of the 20th Asian Games Fun Run in K. Huraa and the launch of the Commonwealth Games King’s Baton Relay in V. Fulidhoo, both of which enhanced community engagement and national visibility for major international sporting events.
Bank of Maldives was formally recognized for its continued sponsorship and commitment to supporting local athletes through scholarship initiatives. During the Assembly, LA28 Scholarship awardees were officially presented with their scholarship awards and signed their scholarship agreements, marking the commencement of their athlete support pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In accordance with statutory requirements, the Assembly deliberated and approved the Agenda, the Minutes of the 2025 AGA, the 2025 Annual Report, the 2025 Expenditure Report, and the 2026 Budget.
The Assembly concluded with a reaffirmation of unity among stakeholders and a shared vision to further strengthen athlete preparation, institutional capacity, and international representation in the years ahead.
